Digger
So today I'm sharing the second game-design exercise of mine I did recently. (No it's not for class or a client, strictly a personal exercise :) )
Digger is a game created solely around the technology presented by Sony in their upcoming portable the PSV. When the thought of two touch pads, plus all the workings of a regular PS controller struck me as odd--I decided to try to create a game around the technology to further understand the capabilities.
So two sheets here for Digger--The first is a preliminary rough design sheet, the controls aren't completely flushed out like the rest of the piece. Overall I was trying to design a sheet to hand someone and be able to show what the game would be about. (this was hard! and still not sure if it works, as the back touch pad tech concept is weird.)
Secondly is a simple model update that I started today from the sheet--well, not today but rather a few hours ago lol.
Digger's game concept is that you play a rolling creature called Digger who lives in the desert. As you can assume you can dig and excavate items, treasures and paths. The back touch pad would be used for a radar like action--dragging a finger across the back panel would show a UI on the screen which would be a hot & cold game. The back panel would also be utilized to set mines or bombs as well to get past obstacles.
Front touch pad drag would be a secondary navigation action (if you don't want to use the joystick) but when pressed down on one spot Digger would Dig down where you press.
Anyways--Cheers!
